SM3D12 mount is made of a light alloy and has a characteristic bent arm, which during the assembling is pointed downwards. Such construction enables installing antenna in such a way that it can be fixed to stand mount by clamping ring, however it limits the usage of SM3D12 mount in the shape of pipe placed on stand mount (such option is available for mounts made by Italian STAB company). 

Taking into consideration the length of the mount arm the height of dish’s “basket” cannot exceed 120mm. The SM3D12 is well constructed and according to the producer’s assurance is able to withstand the wind blowing with the speed of 140km/h.It can hold antennas with diameter of 140cm and weight of 12kg. Scale of polar angle enables regulation within 0-70 range and angular scale (difficult to read) +/-60. The mount is fitted with markers stuck on the shoulder of jib, which make it easier to position all elements in a line of symmetry.There are two F-connectors that can be connected with LNB and receiver, and switches for manual steering of the mount in the East or West direction placed in the lower part of motor and gear. That technique helps to fix the position during setting up the ‘orbit’ and has been used only by MOTECK company in the SG2100 mounts.There is only one (bifunctional) microswitch placed behind hermetic rubber cover. Switches used in the SM3D12 mount might seem quite original but not particularly aesthetic, as they are two wires sticking out of casing. Motor and gear of the SM3D12 mount were designed to reduce the power consumption to 150mA in case of high rotation speed. Only at the very beginning the power consumption may exceed 300mA. The rotation speed with medium load and voltage of 14V reaches 20/sec, what means that the time necessary to convert antenna from the Astra to the Hot Bird does not exceed 4 seconds. The total rotation span is +/-48 so for location 200 East the antenna will receive satellites placed on the orbit from 68E to 28W. Unfortunately, it is not possible to enlarge or reduce that span because the mount is not equipped with adjustable limiters.The SM3D12 works really quietly and precisely. It has been programmed to receive 30 popular satellites and to cooperate with receivers sending “GOTO X” command. It cooperates successfully with many well-known receivers (Fortec Star, Humax, Arion, Echostar, DSR).
