বপনের সময়ঃ এই বীজ বপনের সঠিক সময় গরমের সময় ১। শীত আসার পূর্বে সেপ্টেম্বর থেকে নভেম্বর ২। মার্চ থেকে জুন (বিশেষভাবে লক্ষ্য রাখতে হবে- বীজ থেকে চারা হবার পরে যাতে অতিবৃষ্টির পানির মধ্যে এই গাছ না পড়ে)

মাটিঃ যে কোন ভালো মানের মাটি যেমন -বেলে মাটি, বেলে-দোয়াশ মাটি, দোয়াশ মাটি, লক্ষ্যনীয় বিষয় মাটি অবশ্যই ঝুরঝুরে হতে হবে যাতে তলদেশ পর্যন্ত সেঁচের ব্যবস্থা হয়, মাটির উপরের অংশে কোনভাবেই পানি জমতে দেয়া যাবে না।

বীজ বপনঃ ছাঁদে বাগান করার ক্ষেত্রে- ১০ থেকে ১২ ইঞ্চি টবে বা এমন মাপের যে কোন পাত্রে ২ টি অর্ধ ইঞ্চি মাটির নিচে এই বীজ বপন করতে হবে। মাটি পরিমানে কম হলেও এর মধ্যে যথেষ্ট পরিমান জৈবসার এবং জৈব উপাদান বিদ্যমান থাকতে হবে। পাত্রের মাটি সব সময় ঝুরঝুরে রাখতে হবে এবং ভালো হবে টব বা পাত্রের মাটির উপরের অংশ কোণ প্লাটিক কাগজ বা ভালো গেঞ্জির কাপড় দিয়ে ঢেকে রাখলে। বানিজ্যিকভাবে জমিতে করলে মাটিকে উঁচু করে বীজ বপন করতে হবে এবং সেঁচের জন্য ড্রেইন ব্যবস্থা রাখা যাতে গাছের গোঁড়ায় অতিরিক্ত পানি না জমতে পাড়ে এবং এক একটি চারার দূরত্ব হবে দেড় থেকে ২ (দুই) ফিট এবং এক একটি মাদাতে – ২-৩ টি বীজ বপন করতে হবে। বীজ অথবা চারা রোপণ শেষে হালকা সেচ দিতে হবে।

জমিতে লক্ষণীয় বিষয়ঃ জমিতে চারা অবশ্যই উঁচুতে থাকতে হবে এবং ড্রেনেজ ব্যবস্থা থাকতে হবে যাতে অতিরিক্ত পানি না জমে। মাটির উপরের অংশ অবশ্যই মালচিং করতে হবে। প্ল্যাস্টিক কাগজ বা মোটা কাগজ অথবা ভালো গেঞ্জির কাপড় দিয়ে এই মালচিং করতে পাড়েন।

বীজ অঙ্কুরোদগম ঃ ৫-১০ দিনের মধ্যে অনেক সময় তাপমাত্রা কম হলে ১২-১৫ দিন সময় ও লাগে।

ফুল এবং ফলঃ বীজ অংকুরোদ্গমন হবার পর থেকে ১৫-২০ দিনের মধ্যে ফুল আসে এবং ৩০-৪০ দিনের মধ্যে পরিপূর্ন ফল পাওয়া যায়।
